i was only smoking about a pack-ish a day for about twenty years

congrats to all you who quit too!

i made a deal with myself that i could start again, if i want, when i'm 70
wonder if i will (but with my family history, i'm now a lot more likely to make it there!)

Both of my maternal grandparents, and two of their kids, suffered horrible smoking-related deaths. I have another aunt and uncle who watched these events, and are still smoking. That makes me understand a little better how extremely difficult it must be to quit. Thankfully, I never even tried smoking.

Congrats to all of you who've been able to kick it!

Thats great for you all!!!! Many of my friends have tried to quit and they just can't. Some of these people are strong, determined people, but the nicotine has them beat. It's wonderful that you're stonger than the cigarettes.

That's great, Brian. Did you pick up a new bad habit to replace smoking? Say...chocolate or ice cream or chocolate ice cream or donuts or....?
