wood plank mounts

    Would adding grooves(to look like bark) to these add any benefits? Besides accent look. I have seen some mounted orchids that look like this was done to the mount. I personally like my plastic fiber mounts right now.

    I have used a table saw to cut horizontal grooves in flat cedar. It helped the slab retain more water.
