so who is going to Singapore next year? I went to WOC 2008 in Miami and was so glad I did! I have been planning on going to the next one, its in Nov.2011, which is a good month to leave plants on their own for a week or 2. Time will tell if the money is still there for a trip like that . .

Sounds like it could be a great time! The 2008 WOC attracted so many domestic vendors that the plant selection was kinda weak. I mean, there were some ridiculously awesome plants there, but a show in SE Asia? Can you say bulbo heaven????

Oh... and I can probably slap Amos Tan around a little bit if it's in his back yard.

There's one little problem with going to Singapore; no airline I've checked out goes to
Singapore directly from CA. There's usually a stop-over in Hong Kong for which the passenger is charged. That's more or less an 18 hour flight...pure hell in the economy
section. That's $7,000.00 and change for business class. If anyone can find anything
cheaper, I'd love to hear about it. I'd love to see Singapore Gardens and the WOC on my way to Borneo, but have no desire to do HK.

I am still kicking myself for not making a trip down to Miami when I had the chance. It'll sure be nice to be in Singapore for November...but alas I'll be stuck in school :(

Then go to Redland. It's much better than WOC. The egos are checked at the door (for the most part). It's a ton of awesome plants for sale and some $5 Miller Lite that jim4eq buys.

Thanks. I'm ok. Dad got a bionic knee today. I wanna see if the "placebo effect" is real and give him some white Tic Tacs, but that's been frowned upon by his quacks... I mean docs.

I got a Miller Lite (thanks Jim) and a ton of plants. 45 bulbos and some other stuff. A few phals, a NOID schoenorchis species, um... my plant list is in another thread.

Right Armando. I was thinking from LAX, not from Knoxville, TN to Chicago to LAX and
possibly a re-fuel in HI via United.

I don't yet know whether I'm going to Kuching or not. The flight situation is shitty concerning the stop in HK and the extra charge. That change has been recent and
I'm pissed off about it...and over seven thousand dollars as well. That chunk of change
doesn't include the air fare from Singapore to Kuching via Malayasian Airlines which is
    very reasonable.

Yes, that's what i'll probably do. Although next year I may go to Santa Barbara International or Pacific instead of Redlands.

Angela, if you fly coach you pay "only" $1.7K :D

Yeah, I know, but who the hell can stand coach that long and the more than lousy
food in coach? That's a long flight to just eat crap and peanuts. At least in first
class you get fed reasonably well.
