Last cake for a while. This one is buttercream, no fondant. I was out of fondant and didn't feel like making a whole batch for this little cake. The cake is a really moist brownie type dark dark chocolate from scratch. The ladybug and roses and leaves are sugar paste.

    You're good, Ann. DAMN good.

How long does it take you to make something like that?

Thanks, Jon. I appreciate that! The rose? If you could do it all at once, it would take a couple of hours but you spend a lot of time waiting for the thing to dry and be shaped with poly fiberfill before you add the next petals. The leaves have wires in them and are wrapped in tape and then added at the end after they have dried. All of them are dusted with luster dust and then held over steam to make them shiny. All of the petals of the poinsettia were wired and then put together around the center. All those center things were done individually on wires, cut, shaped, painted and then wired together in clusters. All in all, you just gotta love doing it.

Dale, you're not old enough for luster dust.

    Ann, it is beautiful.

Oh. How old do I have to be? I'm startin' to get a little rough around the edges, here.

    That's an understatement, Dale.

    Again, a beautiful cake, Ann.

Dale, luster dust works best on smooth surfaces. Wrinkles tend to be intensified, but I'll send you my source if you still want it. Thanks -- glad you liked the cake. It made Linda (SIL) cry but her back was hurting, too. Hard to know, huh?
