    Hi,

I would be most appreciative for recommendations on quality vendors in the USA that specialize in or have a large collection of orchids native to Brasil.

    Thank you

I don't know of anyone in the US, but there are several Brazilian vendors who come to the US to do shows and will ship plants. Floralia and Bela Vista Orchids that I have done business with and have been pleased.

You have ordered plants from Brasil to USA successfully?

I've had 3 orders from Floralia and 2 from Bela Vista orchids so far this year. I order when vendors are going to be in the country so they handle all of the importation. They ship to me from within the US. As with any importation, there are some losses, but it is worth it to me.

Hi Peters, there is a really nice Brazilian guy in our area who sells Brazilian orchids. He has a limited range of plants, and a few of each for now, but Sergio Garcia is a really great fellow, and his plants are always nice quality. Mostly laelias and cattleyas, some primary crosses. His nursery is now in Bolinas on the coast. Here is his website:

He may soon be expanding in his new digs!

    Cheers,
    Don

Floralia will be attending the show at the Huntington and will be taking pre-orders for shipping from the show.

I am an 8 hour drive from the Huntington and won't be going to the show. Are you looking for a vendor within driving distance of you?

Another Brazillian vendor which comes to the US is AWZ Orchids. I think they come to Redland (in May). As Marni said, you don't have to be there to buy from Floralia (or most other vendors). They are very easy to communicate with (actually all 3 Brazillian vendors are much easier to deal with than many other international vendors), and you get good plants (for imports). If you are looking for Cattleya species (in the broad sense), Miranda Orchids near Orland, FL has some.

AWZ is considering coming to the Huntington show too. They have really nice plants.

For a domestic source, I did a search on Andy's site and it showed 61 Brazilian species. Since many of his species are not on the web site I'm sure he has many more than that.

I am looking for a vendor that ships to me.
Do you know if any of these Brazilian vendors you mentioned (who attend shows in USA) have a method I could use to place an order?
