    Hi all,
I am in need of some advice for my Psychopsis species and hybrids. I have several that have grown well for me over 2-3 years. I have repotted previously with no problems and maintained the same medium/culture over the time I have had them.
Recently, the majority of the buds on these plants died and dried up. In some cases the spikes started to dry as well. In others, the spikes sent out new inflorescents at the nodes...some of these are growing and some have browned as well!

I have repotted or checked all plants and the roots are fine. I have always grown in sphag and this was working well for me. I have no idea what caused this sudden change. I can only think that with it now being summer perhaps the heat was too much, or perhaps they were too dry, but neither of these conditions aren't something I haven't subjected them to before.

Should I allow the spikes to branch or just cut them all off? Will pseudobulbs that have previously produced a spike send up new ones?

    Thanks all

I have had some experience with what you are discribing. One of my hybrids 'Mendenhall' has been in the same slat baskets for 9 yrs without fresh mix. With no adverse reactions. Its like the Everready bunny. But the younger hybrids are having a hard time keeping their new growths until maturity. My thoughts are that you should give then good light without direct sun morn and afternoon. Keep them below 80 degrees and easy on the fertilizer for now.
I hope this has giving you some fresh ideas
