I hope you all had a good thanksgiving. I went on a road trip to visit some friends and family up in Oregon. We had a blast.

First real stop was at Dales place. He was a gracious host and my daughter adored him. She got a kick out of the dogs too, but was a little too skittish to run among them. When they weren't napping she was requiring that I hold her. She loved the turtles too.

Dales greenhouse is of course fantastic. He has some fantastic stuff in there. One could spend many many hours in there and continue to see new things.

Second stop was in Newport. This was supposed to be a quick stop over but the driving was starting to get to the little one so we stayed for two nights. Mostly we just walked the beach and I drank a little beer as one of my favorite breweries is based out of there. Rogue rules!

After Newport we headed up to Canon Beach. Nice beach and of course, we had to stop at the local brewery and see what was what. There was a place there called Bills tavern. Good brews, if you are ever in the location, check them out. We also saw a bunch of Jellies washed up on the beach. I took a picture of one of the biggest ones with my phone. It was probably close to a foot across.

After Canon Beach we headed to Portland where we had Thanksgiving Dinner with my sister.

Then we headed to Salem to visit some friends who moved out there and opened their own winery. They also have a daughter about the same age as mine so it was nice for her to be able to play.

For you wine fans, if you like Pinot Noir, you should check out my friends wine. It is awesome, burgundy style. It is very affordable now while he makes a name for himself but I dont expect it to stay that way for long. His winery is called Whistling Dog Cellars. Check them out, and if you end up buying or talking with them tell him that Forrest sent ya.

Unfortunately I didn't take my camera, so all I have is a few camera phone pics.

Aww man, I can't find it anywhere around here...I had it once and I loved it. I gotta look a little harder. On another note, have you ever tried the Argentinean beer Quilmes, thats probably my favorite pilsner type beer...It's a pretty awesome beer

no, I havent ever even seen it. I tell you what though, if a bottle ever made it into a box to pad the orchids in a trade, well then, maybe I would. :)

Awesome Forrest. Thanks for the pics. I've never been to the Pacific Northwest. Maybe I will convince Kasey to go up there with me in the next year or so.

Dogfish Head is local beer here. The locals don't seem to be crazed about it but a lot of visitors really like it.
I think they are good too, Chris.

I like the 60 minute, but the 90 and the worldwide seem to be big for the sake of big. Dont get me wrong, I like big, but those are so over the top that they sorta taste like soy sauce.

    Dales is fun.

I almost had to leave right after I got there though. I pulled up and he asked me if I wanted a beer (does a bear shit in the woods? Hell yea I want a beer). He pulled out a nice frosty mug, my kinda guy. Poured me a pint then started to pour his and the dreaded hiss came and the tap started blowing foam. It was a moment full of woe, but then he turned and assured me that we could make a trip to the store and replenish supplies. Tragedy averted.
