    I have never grown Stans so I don't know this firsthand, but I have always read that fairly open baskets are the best way to grow Stans as they often throw their spikes out the bottom. I am worried you might lose some flowering opportunites if the spikes can't get out of the pot. Just a thought.

    I have drilled loads of big holes in the bottom, Dave. You are right they trow spikes from the bottom.

    We grow Stanhopeas in our greenhouse.
    Having this tigrina as well as many others they all are spending this Summer outside under a Trident Maple. Lots of flowers from some that having never flowered before. Now it is time to return them back to the greenhouse. Your potting looks good but you might want to invest in a wire basket. You can purchase them at any large box store (Lowe's or Home Depot) and line it with a very thin layer of coconut fiber then add an abundance of spaghnum moss. This recipe works well indoors or in a greenhouse. Good luck and that is one healthy orchid. Thanks for sharing.
