If you grow them or you know for sure, I would like to hear how many leaves per growth on N. hexaptera.

I have a mature N. monophylla but no mature N. hexaptera in my collection. Out of 20-30 growths since I have my N. monophylla, there are only two growths with two leaves though not exactly in pair, rest of them is single leaf. Based on what I read/seen, the N. hexaptera should have a pair of leaves per growth.

Can we identify/diff these two species by the number of leaves per growth?

I don't have experience with these but just wanted to point out that "monophylla" means single leaf, so I'd have to assume that 1 leaf per growth is the norm for N. monophylla. I'm sure you already knew that, Tom, but thought it may be helpful to others who may not.

I am posting this first bloom seedling (Yeah!!!) of Neocogniauxia monophylla. It has 5 growth. The 1st and 3rd and 5th are single leaved growths. the 2nd is a 2 leaf growth and the 4th is a 3 leaf growth. I don't think you can judge the species by immature leaves. In flask, many plants look nothing l like the mature plant.

    Congrats!

I agree you can't judge immature seedlings... Someone said their N. hexaptera has single leaf like the N. monophylla, and that got me thinking and posted this thread.
