The white one is thompsonianus and the pink is rothchildianus.

Sphagnum moss with LECA pellets underneath. They grow like weeds this way for me. Three more spikes are developing on the thom. :D

I see leaf tip burn on the thompsonianus. I get that with my rothchildianus ... have you figured out what causes it in your setup?

Nah...I never worried about it as they are annually deciduous for the most part. I'm actually pretty surprised that I have as many leaves as I do at the moment. Usually the spikes come from bulbs whose leaves have dropped off or soon will.

In addition to the visible holes there are a few on the bottom. I put the whole thing in a tub of water every week or two and otherwise it sits on a wire shelf under lights with a small amount of ambient window light. Only good water. Humidity seems to be irrelevant as they thrive in a bedroom.

That looks great! I guess shallow wide pots are good for these. Have you tried crossing these two?

Haven't tried crossing them. I just got the roth last year. Maybe next year if they're in synch I'll try to cross them.

I've moved a lot of my plants to shallow wide pots (sandwich containers). They all seem to enjoy it. :poke:
