I just saw a photo of Bulbophyllum kubahense. It is amazing in its shape and color. Does anybody here has experience growing it?

I believe it is incredibly rare, even in its natural habitat and very recently discovered. It's an orchid that desperately needs to be seed propagated as soon as possible to ease the demand for wild specimens, in my opinion.

Goods, these have been available in flask for at least 10 months. I imported a flask last summer from Thailand.

Ricardo, I am growing them warm (with bottom heat) and they are doing very well. Once the rhizome begins to elongate I'm not quite sure show I'll deal with it, but for the time they are potted in moss and seem very robust.

Thanks for the information. I am sure then that they will do well where I live. All I have to do now is to wait until some appear for sale. I have a few types of Bulbophyllum but this plant is in whole league of its own.

Are those mature plants? I don't see them on their website.

I'm not sure, they are recent arrivals. I would think they are adult bulbs but it needs to be verified.

Wow! With that price tag I am sure people are trying to get seed pods from this orchid like there is no tomorrow.

I bit the bullet and got one. I guess it's dog food for the next month. It just arrived. It has 2 leaves which look more like typical Pleuro leaves than Bulbo leaves. No pbulb, a thin but hard rhizome, the leaves are 2 1/2" apart. It's a front end. The stalk is 2" and the leaf itself measures 5" x 2 1/2". Looks like a climber so I'll mount it.

Helen at Mount Prospect Orchids tells me that she only bought 3 as they were expensive, she plans to keep one, one is here and one more is available. Let's hope it will do well. I'll keep you posted.

They are growing really well. They haven't gotten leggy (yet) and the leaves are quite beautiful. I'll try and post photos soon.

Once the seedlings are available, I'll have to set up a terrarium for warm/hot grower, simply so I can grow this species.

Unlike the others, I'll patiently wait in line.
