Nothing works 'once and for all' but Orthene or others with acephate as the active ingredient seem to work pretty well temporarily.

 

Yep, what he said about Orthene, but it won't completely eradicate them. It's is good for control though. I've also had reasonable success with scattering DE inside and
outside my gh walls. They do not like DE at all.

 

Sevin has worked well for me.

 

there is a new-ish type of sluggo, maybe called sluggo plus or something that has an ingredient in it to take out sow bugs, i think.

Just bought sevin spray bottle. My phal hybris 's soil are infested with sow bugs.

 

12 months ago a friend of mine gave me a young Phrag kovachii which was growing in rockwool. New leaf growths appeared to be stunted. I tried a different watering and a light feeding regime. When flushing fresh water through the rockwool I noticed a small woodlouse (pillbug?).
Now, I had read somewhere that if you boiled a chopped onion with a couple of cloves of garlic in a pint of water for 20 minutes; leave it to cool then seive it then pour it into or around or underneath the pot.
I stood the pot in a deep saucer of water then poured the liquid slowly through the medium, low and behold, woodlice came scurrying out of the pot, I've never seen them move as fast Needless to say, the leaves are looking much better and the plant looks much healthier.. Drawback, the greenhouse smells like a kitchen for a couple of days.

 

If you do decide to use an insecticide, look for products that specifically say on the label that they are for outdoor perimeter barrier applications along home foundations to kill home invading pests. Products that contain any one of the following pest-killing active ingredients should be equally effective as foundation sprays against pillbugs and sowbugs: beta-cyfluthrin (b-cyfluthrin), bifenthrin, carbaryl, cyfluthrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin, esfenvalerate, gamma cyhalothrin, lambda- cyhalothrin, and permethrin. These pest-killing chemicals are sold under dozens of different commercial trade names.

Sevin seems to work well on sow bugs, it does have carbaryl in it. It was in phalaenopsis vorecia alba. It's thriving well. I will change potting after the flowers are done. I am planning to use them for future garden. I've grown tomatoes, sunflowers, cumcumber, basil, etc. None of them seem to survive as far as I've noticed pests on them.
