Thank you so much. For the plants in the exposed areas (sororium, magdalena) were they exposed to full sun or was the sky overcast most of the day?

The sororium were full sun, but the magdalenae were always behind a rock or under a little tree, what gave them a bit shade.

    Outstanding!
Makes me wonder if Malala is actually selling dryadum under a different name? Was it easily seen or uncommon?

You seem to have found many many great Angs. Were they in forest reserves or actually 'wild'? And what can you say about the overall state of the forests these days? All the stories from the past few years make one imagine that it is nearly a barren wasteland already or soon will be. :(

thanks again for the great posts

I found the orchids in both...in reserves and in "wild" forests. But you know, today even the reserves burn, as you can see on these pics...maybe more than "wild" forests if they are too close from big towns like Antananarivo or Fianarantsoa...big towns which want more and more coal...

The remaining forests, pimary forests are still rich, very rich and we found some youg primary forest, which grown on old burned pinus forests, which were really rich too with little trees...
So I still hope that one day, with real government, the remaining forests will be saved...I really hope so...

Giles -- what an incredible adventure! So beautiful! So amazing! I love seeing all those orchids in situ. Amazing! I can't get over the ellisii, the nidus and the dryadum. Wow! Such incredible photographs.

Gilles, I lack adequate words to describe how much I appreciate your beautiful photos. It is very special to see these depictions. The Oeonia curvata is particularly tremendous  ! Also that blissful specimen of Aeranthes nidus in bloom reminds me of some Dracula species. I am so glad you went on this adventure and had such success in seeing these marvels.

Some Aerangis citrata always very close to the ground, with a little A.pallidiflora in buds on the first photo, in a really shady and humid forest.

Splendid! It's good to know that Aerangis citrata and A. pallidiflora share habitats. I am happy to know that you have more photos :)
