Schomburgkia superbiens

    I've been waiting three years for this one, Laelia Schomburgkia superbiens 1-15.JPG the first blooming of my Schomburgkia (=Laelia or Cattleya) superbiens, or as I call it "super beans". It's a 'Towada' x 'Rosminah'.

    ...congrats...i am waiting for mine to bloom, also...did you do something different to get it to bloom or did it just finally mature & acclimate?...you're in san francisco so i'm curious if you have it outdoors year around...

    That is stunning. How large is the plant and spike?

    The spike is about 2' , and the plant overall including roots is about 4'. It's got 5 pbulbs. I think it just wasn't big enough previous years. It could grow outside here in SF, but I keep it in an unheated greenhouse that gets down to about 45F.

    To let them Bloom, they need a lot of light, as much as possible!!
