I have a sch. Gemmata that has about nine blooms open so far. I'm wondering for how long the blooms will stay open. I am trying to decide if I should just screw it and take it this month (meeting is on Feb 8) to my orchid guild meeting or should I wait until next month for more blooms to open.
Anyone grown this one before? Will the blooms last long enough to have a more impressive bloom by March 8th?

Mine last at least two months. They are very long lasting.

Ditto what Tom said. I suspect that you will be very happy with it next month.

    Pictures?
I'd go for it, and hold off.

I'm just curious.... Did you wait for the March meeting and if you did was it still in full bloom? I just hope our advice wasn't faulty. Mine has been in bloom a long time now.

It's gorgeous and still blooming now. I totally could have waited, but I didn't. It had about twenty blooms when I took it and it ended up winning viewers choice in its category. Thanks for the advice.
