A native to Papua New Guinea and the Philippines. Classified as a hot to warm grower, but its growing pretty well in the intermediate to cool conditions. IOSPE classifies this as a medium species, but these plants can get rather large. The plant itself is about 15 -16 inches tall with one spike. The ball of buds/blooms is a little bigger than a golf ball. Supposedly blooms in Fall/Winter, but my plant as well as the mother plant this came from is blooming now in Spring/Summer.

    Hi Chris,

I realize that the original post is several years old, but I have just acquired one, that is not the healthiest. How is yours grown? What is it potted in? I see some bark. How do you water, fertilize? Your light conditions?

I really want to turn this plant around, so I appreciate any advice!

    Thank you,
    Carolyn
