I purchased this as Restrepia xanthophthalma from Tropical Orchid Farm. They are considered synonyms. This species comes from Guatemala (the xanthophthalma form), but muscifera ranges from Mexico to Columbia. This group of mostly Central American Restrepias hold the flower at the base of the leaf compared to those that hold the flower away from the leaf. The growths are more upright and taller than a lot of the South American Restrepias.

Bill I had previously thought that all of them were muscifera until I saw a batch of plants in bloom at Andy's. They are clearly different but I would not call them any better.

Bill, I just noticed that the ovary is spotted. I'll have to check some other Restrepia (and my muscifera) and see if others are patterned as well. Cool.

Hey Chad, I was basing the above on Luers discussion in ICONES XVI. I don't doubt there is considerable difference in the group, but I'm no taxonomist. I'm not sure why he is lumping them rather than splitting. I'm going to see Andy next week in San Francisco, maybe he'll have some of these.
