Renanthera monachica

    Renanthera monachica--I bought a little seedling(5 leaves) from Hoosier Orchids 7 years ago and it finally bloomed. My plant is about 7" tall now and that will tell you how slow this species grows.

    I guess the lesson here is I should buy a blooming sized plant if I want this species. Very nice.

    Yeah it's very slow growing species. Mine only grow one or two leaf per year, but it does make up for the slow growth by almost flowering in every leaf axis. Mine bloomed twice already this year and might throw up another spike again in late fall.

    I'm going to have a ways to wait....mine has 3 leaves right now, but it's So cute!
