I have a Psychopsis papilio 'Lace' which I have outside for the Summer. We had a torrential rainstorm last week and it washed out some of the tree fern fiber and I have no more. Does anyone know of an alternative to the medium I might use?
    Thank you,
    Leeflea51

I know others who do very well with it in moss in a clay pot. I grow mine in bark, but I don't grow it all that well, so perhaps others will chime in. Whatever you choose to use, it is best to remove all of the old medium so that you don't have a layer of one at the bottom and something else at the top.

I found that in my environment few my Psychopsis grow better in the CHC-based mix, kept wetter than I would do it for Phalaenopsis.

That's very interesting! I may repot mine (I'm sure they are way past due).

I grow my psychopsis in a bark mix as well. :) Good luck.

I have grown my psychopsis in moss for years. Obviously you have to water accordingly, so for this person I would be inclined to agree with topping up the pot with bark or chc.

I too find these like to be a little wet. I recently went away for a week and the person in charge of my orchids did not water the psychopis (they sit in front of the window and they missed them). This drying out caused all the buds to blast -I think I've lost a spike or two :( The plants however, are still great and will have new pseudo bulbs and spikes in no time.
