From Odom's Orchids last spring. It has been in bloom since.
Flower is 5 1/2" from tip to toe.
Whole plant shot, please.
Nice backdrop. Reminds me of Karen's wall.
How do you grow this guy ? I've one that looks bad and only produces 1 flower the calls it a season.
Light/shade, temp any help appreciated.
I grow this plant warm, average high temp 80, low 65. I keep it moderately moist but not sopping wet, maybe water it every couple of days. The plant gets moderate to high light. I have it in sphagnum moss (and it needs repotted in fresh this spring) and it is in a 4'' pot. I fertilize it about once a week. It can take pretty high light if I give it good air movement and high humidity.
Good luck with yours! And post photos of it when it blooms, please!
Thanks all, for your very nice comments.
Here's a full plant shot for Jon.
Thanx Mary Jane,
I'll give it a move to a brighter area. The 85 may be tough for my conditions.
Its in SH and gets reg feeding.
I have a yellow one in s/h and it loves it!
May I ask, where do you live?
That whole plant shot made my day! No grousing, no bitching about the request, just a whole plant shot. Thanks.
Thanks Marni. Leave it to Jon to request a full plant shot of the tallest damned plant I own.
Hi Mary Jane,
We live in Malibu, Calif. It's on the western edge of Los Angeles County by the Pacific.
Temp stays moderate here the year 'round.
Carl, I bet a move to a brighter area would do the trick for you. Please let me know how it works.
Nicely done, MJ!
I love PYP's and have acquired a nice collection. Love to see them 'floating on the breeze' on the balcony. I have two of the 'Sun #7' clones and love them. Continuous blooms, gorgeous nearly 6" flowers. Same culture as Mary Jane's although mine are growing in sphag and/or lava rock.
Wow good going what a beautiful bloom
looks like you need to get out there and rake those woods
Looks like you need to get yer bossy boots ass here and help me! LOL!
Thanks all. Youse the best.
