Promenaea Winelight

    Ben Berliner did a lot of hybridizing with promenaeas and this was one of his second generation hybrids. This is a cross of Promenaea stapelioides with Promenaea Limelight (ovatiloba x stapelioides). He had given me a flask and this is the 2nd best of the seedlings. I wasn't aware it was in bloom until I moved it when I was trying to find another plant. Nice surprise.

    That's a lovely show. I'll have to keep my eye out for that one. In what sort of media do you grow promeneas?

    Tennis, I grow these in a terrestrial mix of fine bark, pumice (used to use perlite), some red lava rock, and coir. They root much faster with the coir in it. I was using charcoal too but couldn't find a source that was good and affordable.
