    A caribbean endemic. Not currently in cultivation in captivity. The flowers are small and easy to miss. This one was photographed on the Rio Abajo State forest, on the Island of Puerto Rico. Even avid local orchidist are unfamiliar with this species as few people venture on the areas where it prefers to grow. Pontventri.jpg

    Very nice so I looked it up. This species seems to occur in the South (TX to VA). I need to look for it when I'm in the area. Are they tough to find?

    Thanks! I was looking at the USDA map, but somehow I was looking at P. racemosa. Oops.

    P. racemosa is also found in Puerto Rico, but it is more widespread than ventricosa.
