Polystachya piersii

    This is a Kenyan species from moderately high elevation (though it does fine in intermediate conditions). The non-resupinate flowers are 3/4 to 1" wide. The spikes are arching/pendant and sometimes branching (two different spikes are shown).

    nice! - none of my 3 Polystachya plants flower this year have to think what did I do wrong with them ;-(

    Polystachya pubescens 2009 and 2010 was in flower March-Apr,
    Polystachya campyloglossa 2010 flower in June
    Polystachya vulcanica this I got this year so maybe bit more patient ...

    I wonder if late spring cold could stop them flowering?

    I wouldn't give up hope for this year. For both campyloglossa and vulcanica I have had blooms at different times of year. And none of the three are terribly tricky.
