I bought this about 14 months ago, so I'm feeling pretty pleased that it bloomed. It was supposed to be Pl. aurita, but I'm not complaining.

Damn. Got one earlier this year. Potted it up, new growth grew a bit, then turned brown.
Must try again next year after seeing yours. Thanks.

I'm getting into (looking at) this genus, too. Too hot here I think. That's spectacular.

Love that lip! I keep seeing them for sale and chickening out. Do you find them easy?

The ones I find the easiest are Pl praecox and Pl maculata. They are both fall bloomers and don't need the same chilling as most others. I have a terrible time with Pl formosana which most people say is easy. There are also some wonderful hybrids. You do have to make seasonal changes for pleiones and to me it is worth it. Some that are harder are Pl humilis and hookeriana. There is some good information available on pleiones (on the web and Baker and Baker "P" book or culture sheets). Definitely worth a try.

Italian orchids magazine (that is written in English too), published a monograph on the genus Pleione
    written by G. Torelli.

It'is very beautiful, like a great book about 1 cm high, I think the shipping costs low and there are no problems with customs.
It is also sold to foreign,I can ask about their costs and how to submit to the secretariat of the Italian association.

Good point. Yes, it is the best reference I have seen. If you want to grow any of the less common species it is well worth the effort to get it.

Hello Eoista! Paul Cumbleton (www.pleione.info) mentions it and recommends requests via an email to the editor of Caesiana, Franco Bruno. Is this still correct?
