Photographed at Ecuagenera's main nursery in Gualaceo, Ecuador (near Cuenca).
Ecuagenera grows their Phrags in raised concrete troughs about 16" deep. The troughts are filled with a mixture of sphagnum moss and lava rock - very light, spongy and moist.

Wow! Thanks for showing some of the variation in this species. The third one is especially nice, IMO. I've heard this species is more challenging than most other Phrags, any truth to that?

Not more challenging just vastly more demanding of good water. A bad water supply will yield a sea of brown leaf tips and eventually root loss.

Thank you, botanist! I would echo your statement exactly. I've never had trouble with schlimii, but I've always used rainwater.

Thanks guys! Probably not a good one for me then until I get an RO system or start collecting rainwater. I have a good (non-RO) water filter that I use for a few of my more sensitive plants, but mostly everything gets dechlorinated city water.

Is schlimii known to be particularly sensitive to certain individual ions (calcium, magnesium, chlorine, etc.) or is it more a matter of not liking overall higher TDS? Thanks again!
