Last weekend I was travellling on an orchid expedition around Cundinamarca and Meta departments in Colombia with my friend Diego Amaral.

It was quite a fascinating trip, I had the chance to see Comparettia macroplectron in-situ for my first time. It is quite common in the area and it is awesome to see it in full bloom.

You can watch the pictures here: El Calvario - San Juanito - Chingaza - an album on Flickr

    Enjoy!

Wow, the flowers and scenery are fantastic. I would like to visit there someday.
    Thanks for the great post.

It looks as if it was a great trip. The Comparettia macropectron habitat looks much wetter than I would have expected. Thank you!

    Thank you all.

Marni, the C.macropletron grows everywhere around. It does not seem to have special preference for host/humidity.
