Found primarily in the island of Sumatra and peninsular Malaysia, This is a wonderfully fragrant species. I know this is not a Philippine species, lol...But I have always loved Phalanopsis bellina and its relatives.

Thank you, Alexis. It is a bit past its prime and partly eaten up by insects already. I was not able to visit the farm on schedule because of the recent typhoon.

The typhoon impacted you, Nelson? Our national news is focusing on Samoa and American Samoa, although I haven't seen an update since this morning. What has been your experience with this most recent natural disaster?

Some parts of Manila are still buried in mud as of today. I think the death count of almost 300 will become higher because bodies are still being seen.
The brunt of the typhoon was felt noontime last Saturday, while I was at work. I left work at 720 PM and got home at 12 20 AM, ordinarily a 45 minute trip. The guard told me that flood water was knee high in front of my townhouse and waist deep in the highway in front of our small village. Water has not entered my house, and electricity was restored almost noontime the following day.
My entire donation for this tragedy was given to a dear friend, whose parents' and sisters' houses were submerged neck-deep. All small appliances were destroyed. In their area the current was so strong even cargo trucks were overturned.
So, what I had was a minor inconvenience compared to what others had.

Wow, Nelson, how horrible. Sounds like you got lucky. And what a wonderful friend you are to help out those less fortunate. I hope they'll have a quick recovery from this disaster.
