    Phalaenopsis petelotii ( gibbosa )

I have bought this plant as petelotii three years ago , but it blooms every year
only with one or two flowers .This time one bud is shriveled and only one is open .

I have never seen one with this coloration. I recall there has been a split in P gibbosa but I don't remember the particulars.

You apparently need a username and password to see it.

I didn't see the P. petelotii there either. This is a new one on me. After looking at my trusty Christenson and Sweet Phalaenopsis reference books: Apparently the first person to collect the plant was an A. Petelot in N. Vietnam in 1933. I can find no other reference to this in section Parishianae. When Sweet first described P. gibbosa in 1970 he used a re-hydrated specimen that I would assume was the one collect by Petelot. Eric came along later and cleaned things up in his book.
