I am growing Orchid for last 3 years- mainly Dendrobium, Cattleya and Vanda. 3 months back I have purchased 2 Phalaenopsis. Initially they were fine and flowering continued in existing spikes. Earlier I used to water once in a week, but one month back started to submerge the pot completely into water for 5 minutes once in 15 days. After second time by doing so, leaves of one of the plants turned yellow. My question is whether it happened due to over watering or for any other reason. Please help.

To me, living in Florida, this would be too little watering for phalaenopsis.I water mine every other day or so to keep them happy.

I see a few things that could potentially be a problem.
The two yellow leaves appear to go down into the sphagnum moss medium so they may be rotting at the base because of that. The two green leaves look plump in the photos.
Secondly, I don't see any roots showing themselves through the clear pot which is very unusual for a phalaenopsis of this size and age.

Have you repotted since you bought the plant? If not, I highly recommend repotting so you can inspect the roots and put in fresh medium. Seeing the roots will give you a wealth of information.

Steve, are you growing outside and/or using a bark medium?
Manidip doesn't say if he is keeping his plants indoors or outside (I'm assuming indoors) but with sphagnum moss watering every other day is a recipe for disaster, in my opinion.

That's to many yellow leaves to be just old leaf shed.
    Hmmm?

Thank you Mr Kelly, Steve, Takahashi for your valuable suggestions. I am leaving in Kolkata and I have kept the Orchids in veranda, where it gets maximum 2 to 3 hrs inclined sun rays in morning and for rest of the day plenty of indirect light. But yes I have not changed the pot yet, and planning to replace soon. The plant has some roots visible through the pot, photos of the root I shall post later.
