Paph henryanum in the wild

    I just came back from a trip to see Paph henryanum blooming, still quite a lot.

    Beautiful!!! Thank you for the post. In the first photo there appears to be other orchid species that are not in bloom (top left and far right center). Even more in photo #2. Do you know what these are?

    These appear to be growing on rock. Has anyone out there tried growing these mounted in cultivation? I always see them potted.

    @KellyW: I just guest that is one of Pholidota species. It have very nice flower but I still don't know the ID. I will sent photo out to ask for the ID

    So many people will never experience orchids any other way than in a pot in a greenhouse or on a windowsill. Like keeping fish in an aquarium, it's too easy to forget that they actually exist in the wild someplace. Thanks again for the reminder. -Stephen

    Hi 'cx'.

    Most but not all Paphiopedilum plants with plain green strap leaves
    grow on limes stone cliffs.
    Such cliffs are found in Thailand, Vietnam, Burma ...

    I am surprised that nobody before me has enquired about the general location of the plants you have observed.

    My question is : where do they grow and at what altitude ?
