    Hello there!

I've just signed up to this amazing forum - so hi everybody!

In my living room I've built a greenwall which host several philondendron, ferns, bromeliads, etc. There are 2x70 watt metal halide and one 18 watt Flowering Led bulb shining on it. As it is an open system I wonder if I'm able to grow orchids on it as well. There is a pump which waters the wall every other day in the morning for 1 minute and I spray condensated water almost every evening.

Great installation! I'm sure there are some orchids that would grow there. It is important to know the average minimum temperature and the average maximum temperature. Most orchids require a drop between day and night temperatures. Some orchids will grow where there is even moisture and some need a wet dry cycle. More information about the conditions will help.

Hi Marni, that's good to hear! Here are some more detail as requested.
At night, the temp stays above 18°C and during day it's at max 25°C. In summer time this would increase with 2 degrees I think. The bottom pockets are always well moist while at the top there is more a cycle of wet/dry. The center is like average of this: always moist on the inside, dry-ish on the outside. Every week I fill the bottom reservoir with water in which I mix a bit of generic plant fertilizer every other week.

My biggest concern is the central heating during winter.. Although the plants are 4 meters away from that.

    Appreciate your feedback!
