I got this plant last fall and it has done really well. The new growth present when I bought it has matured and flowered now. I’m rather surprised as it only has one other pseudobulb but it looked healthy enough to support the flowers. I hope you like it!

    Hello Rico:
Very nice! Glad you posted the photo. Please share your culture regimen with us. I just got one at the NH show a few weeks ago : -) Any advice is appreciated.

    Happy growing,
    Maryanne

Maryanne, I grow it intermediate with med. to high humidity and bright indirect light. I think it likes to stay moist but not wet; I need to water it about 3 times a week as it is in a rather small pot that dries quickly.

You mentioned that it only has 2 pseudobulbs. Some orchids, odontoglossums in particular, can be set back literally for years by hold an inflorescence when it is too small. You might consider enjoying the flowers for a while and then removing them to let the plant recover.

Hi Maryanne, I also purchased one at the NH Show (although Feb 2018). I grow mine as Rico stated although maybe a little closer to the cooler side of the temperature range. Mine bloomed in November of 2018 and has been vigorous.

Thanks for adding your picture, Chuck, I'm glad similar conditions are working well for someone else - I'm more confident I won't kill it now!

Marni, I would cut the flowers off now if they weren't gone already. They only stayed in peak shape for a week and fell off after about two weeks. I assume they were short-lived so the plant could continue growing, but I'll find out soon enough with how the plant does.

    That's really an amazing flower!
I'm curious to know if your exemplar is fragrant?

Damiano, it didn't have any smell at its last blooming, perhaps it will be in the future. I may have been checking it at the wrong time too. Maybe Chuck will chime in, his may have a fragrance. I got mine from Ecuagenera, maybe that has something to do with it; other nurseries may have clones with a fragrance.

    Sorry, I have to say that I don’t remember...and usually I check ☹️.
