    Greetings,

I have a plant that I received last year with mottled / yellow / brown leaves, as seen below. I have seen other plants of this species in the hands of reputable growers with similar characteristics, if perhaps less extreme. I have also seen photos of plants of this species that just had normal green leaves.

I asked the grower who said he'd been told the mottled leaves were normal for this species.

I have not yet virus-tested this plant. It hasn't bloomed for me, though that's not surprising because I've had it less than a year, I repotted it, etc.

I started out growing it outdoors but moved it to windowsill culture when I learned it's an intermediate plant.

    Thoughts?

    Thank you,

    D.H.

Interesting. Curious as to the reason behind it if it's not just it's natural form.

If that were in my collection and I couldn't test it, I would probably throw it out. It isn't the classic symptoms of either of the 2 viruses that are usually tested for. There are other viruses that can infect orchids. At a minimum I would keep it isolated.
