Recently bought this orchid and so far it is doing very well. Nice color that cheers up any garden!
Could one of the moderators please transfer this one out of the Species Forum.
Iris, this is a hybrid.
You said that you just got this old favorite. Twenty-five years ago it was very popular. Maybe it is making a come back.
It is a very hardy plant and not picky about it’s environment. Can take temps from 35F to over 100F. Humidity over 40% is OK, and not fussy about light. Water once or twice a week, letting it dry between waterings. Can bloom anytime and often blooms a couple of times a year. Quick growing, as compared to most orchids.
Many oncidium hybrids look like Gower Ramsey. We call it dancing Dutch girls. Very good plant for novice growers to get their confidence up.
Very beautiful and rich flowering orchid. Congrats
Sorry, was not aware that was in the wrong forum. My apologies.
Thank you for your valuable insights on this plant. Yes, it is new to me. Humidity and temps should not pose a problem for my plant. I live in a tropical island. I am planning on grouping a collection of oncidiums. So far have four varieties. Warm regards, Iris
