This little guy made an unusually loud thunk as he flew into a window this morning. Fortunately it had snowed yesterday and there was a foot of soft dry powder on the deck for him to fall into. The sound was so loud I had to go check on him. I thought he might suffocate head down in the snow so I scooped him up and placed him in the empty bird bath to collect himself. He seemed unharmed and flew off after I got some shots of him.

He does look a tad addled, but I'm so glad he recovered. We have
a Sharp-shinned Hawk that hits our windows from time to time
when trying to snatch a bird at one of our feeders. Have you tried
any of the decals, etc. to prevent this kind of accident?

    Beautiful Pook. Thank you
A friend had birds crash into her living room window all the time, till she put one of those colored glass sun thingies (sorry to sound like Posey but their name escapes me LOL) and no more birds into the window

Yes I have decals on many windows. The song birds fly into them constantly. I have a tray feeder and two large tube feeders for sunflower seeds, two thistle seed tubes and a peanut feeder all hanging off the logs that support the deck. So there is constant activity there. And the song birds are prey for this little owl. I happened to be standing looking out the french door one day when a small pigmy owl came down and grabbed a song bird at the tray feeder. The owl landed on the deck with the song bird in its talons momentarily and then flew off with it.

We've tried several ideas and none of them seem to work and most
of our house is glass. Dewy, what's a sun thingy? We've tried decals, aluminum pie plates, used car lot strips that blow in the wind, etc., etc. Any other ideas are welcome.
