For the last day or two, threads with new postings are nor showing up in bold.

I have tried it in Safari, Firefox and Opera. Forum problem or mine?

Now that I look at it, the icons aren't responding either.

I'm not having this problem. Is anyone else?

Have you tried clearing the cache in your browsers?

I am not having this issue either.

Marni - are you visiting the site and then leaving without reading the new posts? If so, I believe the new posts are only marked since your last visit to the page and not if they were read or not.

    Hope this helps

It is back working again. I swear, I wasn't making this up. If it happens again, I will be sure to shut down the browser(s) before I mention it. But it seems to me that when I left a page, or refreshed it, when I came back to it, new and added posts were bold. It is that way now again. So I'm happy.

Maybe it only works so many hours per day. There are new posts that I haven't read (or opened), but the icons show no new posts. This is making me have to think.

It sounds like an issue with your cache. Do you click on the "new posts" or "today's posts" links at the top?

When it happens, it happens in three different browsers. I have quit Firefox and opened again, but if there is something I need to do to clear the cache I'm happy to try, just need to know how. I go to the Species page or the Culture page. It used to show me what was new since I had looked before. Both by bold and by the envelope icon.
