    Hello all,

We built a kit Greenhouse in Apr. of this year to house our growing collection of more temperature sensitive orchids, as we live in So. Cal. we have several orchids that grow outdoors year round(Catts., Schams., Onc.,Lealias, and a couple of others).

We have a small backyard so we had to get a 8*6 footer, but I needed the height since I am 6'7" tall, so we built a 2 1/2' brick wall and sealed it with waterproofing and paint, built a lower door under greenhouse door to act as a vent and a way to get in without having to step over a wall.

So far the greehouse is great many more orchids that we can grow some catts. that were outdoors growing good are way better in there. now we have over 300 orchids and still looking for some other small ones.

The greenhouse came with tables built in and is double poly (holds heat in cold weather very well), also a roof vent with an auto vent opener adjustable to different degrees. Greenhouse took 2 days to build, 1 to assemble and one to seal and chaulk and set in place and secure.

We are very pleased with this kit and would highly recommend it, the plants are happy and so are we.

If you would like to see our greenhouse please have a look at my album in the "Members list" area under "orchidbyte" thank you. Gary

A nice kit Gary, and your plants look great.
A kit is the way I will probably end up going, hopefully before I'm too old and decrepit to enjoy it

Gary, do you mean twin wall polycarbonate? From the pictures that's what it looks like. What kit is it?

    Everything looks nice and happy.

Yes, the greenhouse is twin wall polycarbonate, I got it from littlegreenhouse.com. This kit is the "Easy build", and it was, they have several others to choose from and after all the reserch that I did this was the best I could get for my given area. The company also has incentives to offer, if you buy a kit they offer free usefull options for your kit.
The service was great and delivery was on time, I contacted them afterwards and sent them pictures of the greenhouse.

You should find pictures under albums at the Member List area, others have seen the pics.

Today is very cold here about 45 outside and rainy, but inside the greenhouse with a small radiant heater the temp is 69, humidity is 78 percent. I also have plenty of Lealia purpuratas, anceps and grandis as well and other types of orchids and tons of other plants that frow outdoors all years and seem to do great. The Lealias are over 40 bulbs big on mounts and flower every spring.

Well done!! How many of us are jealous of you having so much beauty outside to enjoy! My last blooms will be done by New Year's and I will be months without any blooms. Savor the views for all of us!!!

Stunning pictures and plants. Just had my GH delivered yesterday. 8X12, Fiberglass, single wall, pre-assembled. Leonard's Greenhouses. Bought it for $2000. Comes prewired with light and exhaust fan/thermostat. Will post photos. Problem is I don't have the incredible collection to go along with it. I'm starting over so I'll be starting small. That's a beautiful collection!
