Forrest and I have spent a lot of time brainstorming and trying to figure out a way to enhance OI's user-experience. We came up with the idea of user-created culture sheets. As is often the case, when a grower makes an effort to determine how to grow a plant, the information found is usually from a publication talking about elevation, region, rainfall, etc. Many times, this is difficult to translate into "how do I grow my plant?" OI has some extremely accomplished growers, and it makes sense to catalogue their knowledge and expertise. So we created the Culture Sheet section. Users can submit their own sheets here. There are only a few conditions for creating sheets, and those can be found here. The Culture Sheets section is located on the forum home page, under the "Information Exchange" heading, or by clicking here. If you have any questions about the section, please feel free to post them below or contact Forrest or myself privately.

Thanks for helping make OI an even better forum.

Thanks folks. Now... let's get to creating some sheets! Obviously, I've created the most thus far, and they are mostly bulbos, so... what would it take to get everyone else to start making sheets?

A contest. The winner gets Rhode Island.

Um... doesn't the contest require a prize someone would want? Like maybe... something other than Rhode Island?

I think Clarice might be a really good prize. For her I can do lots of Phal. species culture
    sheets.

I don't like the part where the sheet is copyrighted to the author and the forum. Other than that the sheets are limited in they describe how the author grows the orchid. Baker sheets are much better.

That's meant to dissuade people from copying and posting the sheets elsewhere. If you'd like, we can remove that part from any that you create.

That's the point of the sheets: to show how individuals grow the plants outside of their natural habitats.

this is the whole point Clark. The baker sheets are fantastic, and this is not a replacement for them. This is for our members that want to know how other members are growing them. Which can be invaluable information.

This is a great resource, thank you Jon and Forrest for adding it.
Relatively low humidity is a problem for me here, so the 'other plants growing well nearby' comment is especially handy for me.

    This is great!

Of course... I'd love it EVEN MORE if all the Farenheight temps were also written in Celcius.... :p

ETA: Oh wow, first post. Better regain my manners and go introduce myself.

This is just for me since I like foliage as much as the blooms...Id like to see plant shots in each post along with just a macro of the bloom. Hard to get an idea of the size/look of a plant when all google image results are just of the bloom.

Sorry to point out the problems.
