I received my first order from Wistuba of Germany 2 days ago. I've heard lots of things about their plants, but they are vey nice plants in my opinion. Pretty excited! 15 Nepenthes and 3 Heliamphora.

I posted my impression and more photos of individual plants on my blog (link).

Wow! Looks great! I am an unofficial carnivorous plant admirer and have always dreamed of Wisuba plants. I wish you the best of luck with them!

Thank you, Carter. Even though they grow much faster than most orchids, it takes long time to see spectacular pitchers. I'll see how it goes. I saw that you have N. inermis on your blog, do you grow other high-land Nepenthes?

No, I only have two Nepenthes, one huge hybrid I've had for about a decade and the Nepenthes inermis. I am always "looking" for Nepenthes species but usually the high prices deter me as a casual collector.

I agree that the price in the US is kind of too high. I guess that the market for Nepenthes is much much smaller than orchids. Also I don't think that there is a "big" Nepenthes species breeder in the US.

Congrats! Some nice ones there. :) I'm really into Nepenthes as well. Love Wistuba, great company!

Who is their US distributor? Can plants be ordered from them, or do they all come from EU?

Ray, as far as I know, the plants all come from Germany. I don't think the distributor in the US stocks them. Some of other US retailers sell acclimated ones originated from Wistuba (e.g. Native Exotics). But they don't have lots of choices. Wistuba is closed for the winter, so the next shipment is in the spring (maybe around April).

PetFlyTrap is going to import from Borneo Exotics soon. They sell the plants cheaper right after the import. I think they call it "pre-sale", and the choices are limited to what they have ordered. Lots of Nepenthes in the US seems to be overpriced, so this is a good opportunity to get them reasonably. The pre-sale is supposed to be in March-April. They announce the pre-sale in their FB page or you can subscribe to their email list.
