I don't see many posts on our native US orchids, so I thought I might post a few of my pictures from here in Minnesota, where our state flower is an orchid. The first is not the showy ladyslipper, however. but Platanthera psycodes, photographed in a boggy area in the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, southwest of Minneapolis. Shown are two color forms, the common pink form and the less common pale form.

I'll post a picture later - what part of the country do you live in?

I am in Northeast, Dave. Every late May, I have over a hundred of pink ladyslippers blooming in my woods/backyard but that is the only wild showy(IMO) species that we have here. We have many other wild orchids here but they are not as common as the pink ladyslippers though.
