I grow outdoors in LA, and treated myself to a real roof!
It's pressure treated lumber and clear Lexan!
I added 6 linear feet of concrete, and now have space for 2 more benches!
It's not finished, I need to seal the plastic on the house, and then hang plants.

It's withstood 50 MPH wind gusts.
The shadecloth blew off, but the roof held!
I'm glad I wimped out & hired a contractor to build it!

    They're supposed to get painted?
Pink, maybe, to match the wall?

Now, Karen. You don't want whatever they used to treat the lumber to be dripping on your plants or yourself, do you? And it will drip, of course, when it gets wet. Not a lot, but some.

Well done, Karen. As long as you don't chew on the wood, you'll be fine.

That's hot, Karen. You gonna set up some sort of misting system so you can keep the area less arid?

Treated lumber exposed to the eliments will warp and possibly twist. Save yoursaelf some head aches and use a good primer paint then a top coat of whatever color suits you.
