So one Saturday a few weeks ago, I wandered over to a Petco to see what sort of aquariums they had for sale. What I didn't know was that it was an "Adopt-a-Pet" day, to which one of the local rescue shelters brought adoptable puppies and kittens. Needless to say, I fell hopelessly in love with an adorable pitbull boxer mix. I filled out the application to adopt her, but due to her parentage, the shelter (Animal Rescue New Orleans) was very thorough in making sure I was a suitable owner.

Cut to last Friday, when I was finally able to pick my little girl up and take her home. However, the cost to adopt her and buy supplies for have invariably wounded my terrarium fund. So I guess that'll have to wait, but it's just as well; getting plants shipped to New Orleans over the summer is a recipe for death.

Thanks Alexis! I thought long and hard to find a good name. It certainly doesn't help that I'm so indecisive! But now that I have her, I'm looking forward to having a great companion for many years.

As soon as I saw the first pic, I knew it was a pittie. Gotta love those pittie faces and ears. Congrats on your new pup, and thank you for saving a dogs life. Remember, socialize, excercise, and do some basic obediance. Thats a recipe for a future "good girl" not to mention a tired pittie is a good pittie :)

Here's a VERY helpful link to make this a true success story http://www.pbrc.net/
    Good Luck
