My grow stand

This is for Jon. This is my grow stand with T5 flourescent lights. The lights are about 15 inches away from the leaves. Thats an average; shorter plants are further, taller plants are closer. Each shelf is lit by one 4 ft T5 fixture without a reflector. The shelfs are mostly Masdevallia species, some lepanthes, poroglossums and scaphosepulums, but I do have a few phrag and phal seedlings as well. Some cuthbersonii, bulbos (the only 4 I have) and 1 fernadazia and some telipogons. The pleuros alliance bloom, everything else, not yet.

I agree there is a benifit to having reflectors, the lights never came with any. I was going to paint the bottom of the shelf white, but ran out of paint.

If some can direct me to a North American source of those clip on reflectors, I would be greatful

I have no problem with low humidity. With 500+ plants in 300 square feet, they can sustain 80% + humidity. I try to keep it at about 65-70%. I have a exhaust fan to get rid of any extra.

The shelf is painted with an elastomeric paint. Its like a waterproof, rubber coating thats used on roofs and barns. The shelfs are angles so that the water flows off into a gutter that drains into a reservoir. The reservoir is then pumped in the drain when full. I water using a sump pump in a garbage can.
