A Maxillaria from Costa Rica. I grow it on the cool side of intermediate. The flower segments are about 5” long. There are around 40 flowers. The flowers were larger and fewer last year. Very fragrant. In the morning, it is a pleasant smell, and in the afternoon, it smells like Sweet Tarts taste (chalkiness and all) and I kind of hate it.

Still, the display is hard to beat. IMG_0752.jpeg IMG_0756.jpeg IMG_0757.jpeg

I just saw this post. That’s fantastic!

How long do the flowers last?

Not as long as I’d like! They were about a week old at that point, and now there are only the late openers still clinging to life, browning at the edges and tips of the petals and sepals. Around three weeks total display, and maybe two weeks per flower.

They are fragrant to the end, though.
