    Nice! I just got one.

Can you tell me anything special about this? Fragrance? Prefer being mounted?

    What a nice display.

I have a plant and I thought it was the only Masdevallia species I could grow. Sadly even this one seems to be going downhill now. I have probably been giving it too much light… Or whatever… I cannot grow Masdevallia

Daniel, while I can smell things, I don't have a good memory for scents. To me it is light and pleasant, but I can't say much more. I've grown Masd. strobelii both potted and mounted with equal success. I like the way it displays better when mounted.

Without knowing your conditions, it is hard to say. You can see the leaves on mine are a dark green. It does grow in shade. Water quality is very important to all cloud forest plants. But I do fertilze them regularly.

It is the color of the leaves that makes me think that I have given mine too much light.
Then my guess is that also water quality is an issue. We have very good water quality where I live but, of course, RO water is always better. I should invest in a system.
Ray: maybe I’ll contact you about an RO system next year!

Yes, but I keep it at the low side - 25 ppm in every second watering.

25 ppm that's really low. I give around 90 ppm two times a month plus every week seaweed based foliar feeding.

Bravo. All I can do is join the chorus. I wish I could grow masdevallia, particularly this species, nearly this well.

Have you tried Masdevallia sprucei? It is a warm grower and really lovely.
