    Just an FYI .... there is a new list of pre-order species available at Louisiana Orchid Connection
    http://laorchid.com/collections/madagascar-sourced

    This is not an endorsement or recommendation, just passing on information. I have not bought any freshly imported bare root plants from this vendor. A few months ago I did buy an acclimated and mounted Oeonia oncidiflora and it was beautiful, growing new roots and had a short spike. So far, so good.

    I plan on making my order for some Angraecums and a couple Bulbophyllums. I have never been disappointed with any plant that I have gotten from John.

    Thanks, Kelly. Last year, they were sending out email notification, but I didn't get it this year. Do you know when is the deadline by any chance?

    Orders will be accepted until the end of March. After he calculates the final numbers he will send out another email with an approximate delivery date.

    I don't understand how Aeranthes arachnites and Angraecum scottianum can be in an imports list from Madagascar...they don't exist in Madagascar....??o_O

    There are some "false - old" names too:
    Aeranthes imerinensis -> Aeranthes caudata
    Aeranthes breve -> Angraecum sp.
    Neobathia filirocrnu -> Neobathiea grandidierana
    Oeonia oncidiiflora - > Oeonia rosea

    ...but the list is quite impressive!!!;)

    I was just talking to John about this import at our society meeting tonight!

    I've had the pleasure of seeing these plants in person virtually right out of the box, and the quality of plant is much greater than what used to come in a few years ago. Even things like Ang. arachnites/linearifolium and such have a good chance of survival unlike a few years ago when most came in pretty hopeless looking.

    One of John's emails said he hopes to have the shipment in the last week of April then start shipping them to purchasers in the order the pre-orders were received.

    Unfortunately, I had looked at my bank account balance :eek: and didn't order any this time. Too soon after POE :rolleyes:

    I spoke to John a couple of days ago and he said that he hopes the shipment will be in early next week and that he will start shipping either later that week or the following week.

    Got my plants today. Very sad that my fastuosa var francoisii had the beginnings of a new leaf emerging but looks like that died. Hopefully it keikis.

    Also got a Microcoelia gilpinae. It's fine but my word, does that a pitiful thing in general to receive. To be clear, not that this particular one I got is that but the species in general or actually any of the thin root Microcoelia.

    I had the chance to finally meet John at the Redlands show this past weekend and unfortunately he had already mailed the plants to me. All of the plants that they were unboxing from Madagascar looked to be very healthy. I picked up an Angraecum teretifolium and Angraecum popowii. The Bulbophyllum occlusum and Bulbophyllum hamelinii arrived the next morning to my door and were in very good condition as well. Very big nice sized divisions.

    I have nothing bad to say about these imports and am very happy with the plants I picked up and received.
