    Hi,

Has anyone heard of this nursery?

It's located in Baton Rouge. I would like to contact them to see if I can visit, but it seems their contact us page doesn't work.

I got a couple of phals from him at Redland in May. I think they were fresh imports, but I'm not certain. Anyhow, the guy seemed competent and knowledgeable. I Googled the name, and this phone number popped up --> (225) 388-0850. Try calling him.

I got a few really neat things from him at Redland, too. They were a bit overpriced, but very nice, clean plants. And he does seem to know what he's talking about. I hope you get in touch with him!

Just a heads up... I don't think he brushed his teeth for the few days preceeding Redland.

Thanks, I've only seen what they have posted on their website, but they seem to have many interesting things. Hopefully I will be able to go visit, and I'll keep what you said in mind ;)

I was able to visit the nursery, and I was very impressed. Everything was very organized, and Dr. Tin was more than accommodating. He had many interesting plants, and I learned alot.

    Here's what I got:

    Rangaeris amaniensis- mounted
    Angraecum leonis- potted
    Eurychone rothschildiana- potted in bloom
    Sobennikoffia humbertiana (2)- potted

Looks like I would have bought the same list, were I there. You have excellent taste in orchids.

Thanks Alexis and Mr. B. He had many more Angs and many walls of mounted species Phals.

Mr.B Angs are my favorites. Unfortunately, finding many species available is difficult. i wish I had a collection as extensive as yours.

Took another trip to LA Orchid Connection today. There's some really cool stuff in the works there right now. I came home with an Aerangis mystacidii in bud. I'll post pictures once the flowers open. Fingers crossed it doesn't blast.

I have ordered some really cool species phals from him, as well as chiloschistas. I would love to visit the greenhouse sometime though.

There were a few Phal. equestris varieties in bloom this time that were really nice along with MANY other interesting plants. The greenhouse will be less than 15 minutes from my apartment once I move back to Baton Rouge for school, so I have a feeling I'll be making many more trips over there in the future.

Lol oh wow, you might have to restrain yourself if you want to have money for anything other than orchids.

Wow! 15 minutes! That could be a serious problem? How much room does your apartment have for orchids? Can you live on ramen noodles?

I'll be out of room for plants there shortly since I'm limiting myself to only growing in a couple tanks. This will make sure everything stays in moderation. Thankfully, I have a scholarship that covers my meal plan and also contains a stipend for an undergrad research job. No ramen noodles here!

I have been to Louisiana Orchid Connection's greenhouse in Baton Rouge. They have a lot of unusual stuff, and most of it is mounted. I have bought some nice stuff from them, and keep in contact with them on occasion. They had about 10 plants pulled for judging at the Terrebonne Orchid Society Show, and I think 2 of them got awarded. It is refreshing, in a time when many vendors are selling the same plants, to have a nursery with an inventory with such uniqueness. Tin does his own flasking, along with the plants he gets from other sources. You have to experience his greenhouse to understand just how jealous I am.
