I have a couple of bark-mounted angraecoid plants that are growing well (new leaves, new growths), but that have slowly been losing old leaves. I assume that there is too much humidity for them, as the old leaves are black around the base but still green at the top. Anyone have an idea? I'd be grateful for any wisdom.

Here are the the two plants. The first one lost a leaf on the far left growth, with the black base. The second lost a number of older leaves, so is now very "stemmy" with only new small leaves.

Nothing really screams trouble to me from your photos, but if the leaf drop has been of a faster speed and greater volume than is normal, I wonder if it is just due to a bit of water stress it being summer with low humidity and warmer days. Do you think your plants are getting sufficiently frequent watering? How high is the humidity at say, 2pm? Do you have a min/max hygrometer?

I have a swamp cooler, and it stays pretty humid in there
I'll have to set and check the hygro.
    Thanks for the feedback!
