i got this plant from odom's at redlands last year. it took off like a rocket

there are six spikes with four to five blooms each. the blooms are about 1.25 inch apiece.

the whole view is very delicate, and i think it's quite charming

Beautiful! I just got a semi-alba with two spikes forming. Would I be correct in assuming that this one, like a lot of the other Laelias, needs a winter rest after blooming?

    Thanks all -

The plant is in a porous ceramic pot with some shards in it - no other media. my laelias like it comparatively dry around the roots, but like an ambient rh of about 70%.

while in it's growing phase, i watered weekly and allowed it to dry out completely between waterings. i fertilized once a week during the growing phase with a standard balanced fertilizer, and occasionally added some seaweed extract.

as far as light goes, the plant is in a relatively shaded area, outdoors, where some dappled bright sunlight is available.

and yes, after the blooming period, i will let it rest, watering only enough to keep the pseudobulbs from shriveling.

    thanks a-

actually, there is some question in my mind (and others) whether or not it's an alba; it seems to have a very slight blush of pink, so it might be a very light form of the pink variety.

this thing grows like a weed; i'm sure we can arrange to get you a piece.

actually, i'd like to get a true alba myself. as you know, that sort of thing stirs my grits.

as i understand it, these blooms are a little smaller than the type. did i do something wrong?
