While I was up on the ladder digging through the top shelf to get to Blc. Chia Lin to take a photo, I came across a spike full of bursting buds that I had not noticed. Den. spectabile apparently decided to get an early start on blooming (one spike did-- the rest are about where they should be for an early spring bloom). The flowers are just starting to unwind-- not that they'll be any less tortuous. :p This is a cool species, the only drawback is that the plants are LARGE. This is a baby which is very potbound in a 4" pot, and it still takes up a large portion of the real estate on the top shelf of the greenhouse. I'm afraid to repot it and give it reason to expand even more!
